Roots Decks and Remodels was founded in the fall of 2022 by Eric Kreider, who started the company out of a desire to provide something more for his family. What began as Roots Handyman Services, handling everything from desk repairs to TV mounting and light fixtures, has grown into a full-service remodeling company specializing in deck building and interior remodeling.
As the business grew and the team expanded, Eric brought on Junior Cornell as co-owner. Together, they’ve built a company focused on serving lake homeowners throughout the Finger Lakes with kitchen remodeling, bathroom remodeling, whole home remodeling, restoration work, and deck building.
Eric manages client relationships and sales conversations, bringing strong communication skills and a personal approach that resonates especially with out-of-town and second-home clients. Junior oversees day-to-day operations and job execution, bringing hands-on expertise and ensuring every project is completed with care and accuracy.

We partner with our preferred designer to develop full 3D renderings, select materials and fixtures, and refine the design until it’s exactly what you envision. You’ll have guidance for every decision.
You’ll receive a detailed quote through JobTread that outlines the complete scope of work, timeline, and contract details. Everything is transparent and clearly documented before we begin.
We finalize all material selections, order cabinets and countertops, schedule subcontractors, and create a detailed project playbook so the entire team knows exactly what to do. This planning minimizes delays and keeps your project running smoothly.
Throughout the construction process, you’ll receive daily progress logs via JobTread, which include photos and updates. You’ll always know what’s happening, even if you’re out of town.
We meet with you to review the completed project, address any final touches, and ensure everything meets or exceeds your expectations. You’ll also receive our 1-year labor warranty for peace of mind.
